Christian Keyes

Our Melanin King Monday feature today is Christian Keyes. Mr. Keyes is quite possibly one of the most talented actors to date and if he hadn’t already made an impression in your heart he will just as he has made his mark on the industry. Most of us were first introduced to Mr. Keyes through his modeling and music careers. Soon we would learn that he is much deeper than his perfectly sculpted temple and smooth skin topped off by that gorgeous smile he carries. 

Mr. Keyes’ evolution in his acting gift has now become his most recognizable feature and we love it! Appearing in two of Tyler Perry’s stage plays, “Madea Goes to Jail” and “What’s Done in the Dark”, music video cameos and now he has elevated to movies and television …. btw, did you see him as Michael on Supernatural? Christian Keyes has more than proven he’s in the game to stay and he competes with no one but himself, seeking roles more complicated than the last. 

If you are familiar with his past you are aware that as a child he was adopted not once, but twice as well as spending time in and out of the foster care system. Abuse by the woman who would give him her last name and homelessness had the potential to leave him scarred and on the path to becoming a statistic. It was the love from his new family that would help him to release the pain of his past. Their guidance and the implementation of consequences to actions that were less than desirable shaped him into the humble, self loving man he is today. A relationship with God fueled his ability to forgive and to move forward so that he could and would live out the purpose God set forth for him. Now, Mr. Keyes speaks to the youth and helps them to realize their past has no dictation over their future. He makes sure to provide guidance, love and support to his own son (affectionately called The Sequel) and is an example of the love a father should give to his son. 

Actor, writer and producer all can be used to describe Mr. Keyes, although I’m sure “Dad” is what he cherishes being called most. Mr. Keyes is not showing any signs of stopping or even slowing down and I’m convinced he has something even bigger in store for us. Mr. Keyes is making King moves and he is truly a Melanin King!
