Welp, he’s done it again! And by he, I mean the ultimate funk King, Willie Hyn. If you’ve not acquainted yourself with him…DO! His music is sexy and faunky (no typo) and puts you in the mood to be all kinds of grown, grown. At the top of the year I did a sit down with this legendary producer, writer, actor, low key A&R and all knowing mage of music and posted it on my YouTube channel (https://youtu.be/wcwFOX2usm0). And let me dare not omit that he is also an INDEPENDENT artist in the game for over 10 years…wooh chile! We discussed music and the influences that have shaped his career. We also discussed some new moves and the impact that the Willie Hyn brand has had on the industry. 

Granted, I am a new supporter and have only been listening for a year or so, but damn! I love all kinds of music and I base my preference of listening on the emotions that overcome me when I’m vibing to whomever is in the speaker at the time. I truly believe that music is a feeling and dependent upon your mood at the time, your emotions can be a wide range of peaks and valleys. The vibe that I am describing IS Willie Hyn’s sound. You feel the passion behind every track…are they still called that nowadays?? You go from reminiscing about the best time you’ve had with your crew to your first kiddie crush to that first time you had the most amazing orgasm you’ve ever experienced. 

Willie’s new EP, “I’m Really A R&B Nigga” is flames! There’s an 80’s R&B vibe that is so nostalgic. I’m a true 80’s baby and this took me back to my childhood of listening to records in my room on my strawberry shortcake record player, singing to my future husbands; Michael Jackson and Prince (don’t be judgemental)! The only hint of the NOW is the mention of the pandemic that we are experiencing in a few short clips. I’ve listened to this masterpiece about fiddy ‘leven times and my faves are Morning Glxry and Cute (Remix). This whole EP slaps and I definitely recommend you check it out. I’m ready for outside to open so I can go to a Willie Hyn show with his band Confettii Rose! In the meantime, go to any streaming platform and listen to his podcast, Willie’s Hour of Power with co host Allblackdre. You’ll pass out from laughing, but it’s so worth it lol.
